At eight years old, Jennifer Swartz discovered the harp in a summer music camp, and has never looked back. She started her harp studies with Maureen McKay, a student of the renowned harpist Judy Loman. It was not long before she would become a student of Ms. Loman herself continuing under her mentorship for many years. Other notable teachers have included Alice Chalifoux, Nancy Allen and Marilyn Costello. In 1992, Jennifer graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.

Jennifer has an exciting career as a soloist, chamber artist, orchestral musician and teacher. Her solo career began at the early age of sixteen, as a concerto soloist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. She has been featured with orchestras all across Canada and has made her Carnegie Hall debut with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. She is active in chamber music festivals, performing with celebrated ensembles such as the Molinari String Quartet, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, the Cecilia Quartet as well as many distinguished artists. She also enjoys working closely with composers and has had the privilege to do so with Srul Irving Glick, Caroline Lizotte, Harry Somers, Stewart Grant, R. Murray Schafer and Andrew Creeggan.

In 1993, Jennifer won the Principal Harp position with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. One year later, she became the Principal Harpist with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, a position she still holds today.
